a day in ipoh

yesterday i went to ipoh, as part of my holiday trip plan. though it's not exactly a place you would go for vacation, there were other reasons why i chose that place.

anyway, the day started as a pretty messy one as i woke up a bit later than i should be. so everything was done in a rush. except for the bathing p
rocess of course. i need to do some 'investment', forcefully, as i did not want it to disrupt the day later on.

it was 8.30am when i arrived at the pudu bus station, and my bus was also scheduled at 8.30am. dang, i went to the platform immediately, running all the time, hoping that the bus might depart a bit later than the given time. but to my dismay, the bus had departed, just recently! that's what the other bus drover told me. he even showed me the bus which is on its way out of the roofed building.

in a split of a second, i found myself running towards the bus, using all my might, so fast that i did not even know i could run that fast! perhaps the world's number one sprinter in the world, Usain Bolt would be shocked seeing how fast i am. well, that's a bit exaggerating.

now, back to the scene. i kept running and the bus kept moving until finally, someone stopped the bus driver as he saw me. thank god, i finally got onto the bus or else i have to wait for an hour for the next trip.

after 3 hours or so, i reached ipoh bus station, medan gopeng. imagine how hungry you would be if you haven't had breakfast since morning, did a 100m relay in 10 seconds and slept all the way through in the bus.

i know, not that h
ungry.

i called my friend, as she was the one who will be my tour guide for the day. turns out, she just finished taking her bath! lol. maybe i arrived earlier than expected. so i waited until her sisters came and fetch me up.

later that day, i went out for a movie, together with the host's siblings. they were all, hm, energetic? yeah. maybe that's the word. we watched 'pink panther 2'. one of the must watched movie, i should say. you can never find such detective in real world. clumsy, stupid, but nevertheless, smart.

oh yeah, we watched the movie in JJ, or jaya jusco. its the most popular mall in ipoh, i heard.

yong tau fu ipoh food court

one thing unique about ipoh are the buildings. the city still maintain its old buildings built since before the Japanese invaded Malaya. i hardly found buildings like the one i saw in ipoh anywhere else in the country. perhaps it was i who did not travel much so i did not see any like it.

my host's mother said, tourist always came to see the train station and the ipoh municipal council.

it was unique alright.

there were many other things that i found interesting during my stay in ipoh. but the post is already too long and i do not want to drag it further. so i'll stop here.

thank you to the host for willing to spend your precious time showing me the city. i must say, if time does permit, i would stay a bit longer. i had some lovely meals there. home cooked by the very own host's mother, mak cik. thank you. and to pak cik and the rest of the family, thank you too for your hospitality.
