last friday, i went on a trip to batu pahat, or parit haji siraj to be exact to attend one of my best friends' engagement ceremony. the ceremony was held on saturday, but i decided to go there earlier, since i have not seen him for ages. i went there with a few other friends who knew about the engagement. upon arrival, fahmy came with his old savvy, and signalled us to follow his car. he had to fetch us since we didn't know the way to his house. after about 10 minutes, we finally arrived there. as expected, the house was painted pink, as told by fahmy before.
it was a warm welcome, and we hugged each other after i got out of the car. he was still like before, thin, tall, and most important of all, that weird but kind smile of his. perhaps that's what makes so many people likes him. soon after that, we went into the house, and he introduced us to his family.
later at night, we went out to celebrate the so-called bachelor night. well, it was not the kind of bachelor night you would expect to be. not like the ones in the west at least. still, we had some fun, and that was all that matters.
the next day, was D-Day. the event started at 2pm. being a romantic person he is, fahmy went out to buy flowers for his soon to be fiancee. since we were already out to buy my bus ticket back to kuantan, it was only a short detour.
at about 2.30, we went to the lady's house. i offered to drive him there. you would not want the person to drive himself on his special day would you? and there we were. according to malay tradition, the guy is not allowed to be in the engagement ceremony. so we waited outside the house for about half an hour, and when all was done, we were called in. that was when the photo session begins. they looked so nice together. dressed in red and maroon, they seemed like a perfect couple. i wish all the best for them and their future.
though i have said this to the man himself, i would like to say it again,
'congratulations fahmy on your engagement!'
